“Man was predestined to have free will.”– Hal Lee Luyah
At the core of who we are in the universe, is pure consciousness. Some call this Love. Others call it Source or God. Still others, Energy or the Quantum Field. Call it what you will: this force is who we really are.
Our bodies, our lives and our surroundings are expressions of this energy. We are not only the creators, but the experiencers.
While researching 2012, awakening and The Shift we're in, I've read that two of the first three “distortions” (departures) from pure Source energy for our universe, are Love and Light, which came as no surprise.
However, the FIRST departure from pure consciousness that makes us who we are, is not Love, or Light: but Free Will. This was surprising to me at first. But then I realized how perfect this is.
While many pole vault gladly to Love and Light, how many truly honour Free Will? is Free Will more important than Love and Light? My answer: Yes.
Do you feel your heart constricting now? That's okay: you're not alone.
“The robber of your free will,” writes Epictetus, “does not exist”– Marcus Aurelius
If you want to see how you're doing during this time of Shift, check in with how you are with others Free Will. Do you judge others actions? Do you seek to influence, interfere? When restricted in some way, do you retreat, with the wound of abandonment, or charge ahead?
Noticing our relationship with Free Will is important for those of us on a conscious growth path. You see, every time we restrict the Free Will of another, we create karma (or energetic imbalance).
If we're carrying this inbalance, we encounter situations over lifetimes that correct and restore balance. In this time of Shift, time itself is accelerating. What this means is that karmic imbalances more quickly correct themselves, and like speeding down a highway, corrections can also be more visible, and dramatic.
Personally, I'm okay with this because I know that the more my life balances out, the more I'll experience ease and abundance as my life unfolds. However, some days it does feel like a roller coaster!
“Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will.”– Jawaharlal Nehru
So yes, Free Will is the first departure from pure Source. We created Free Will by design: it's no accident.
Yet accepting Free Will isn't easy for us humans. So often, other people's free will decisions provoke anger, manipulation and grief.
I'm pondering big changes in my life at the moment. I'm noticing my own resistance to change. Previously “hidden” realities around others are also bubbling up, and I notice how they affect my heart.
I've been forced to examine my role in other people's entanglements. I've also felt the sticky threads of manipulation reach out, as others seek to shape “easy going Karen”, a tactic that I thankfully no longer respond to.
In the past, I'd retreat. Say nothing and hurt. Get out of there. No longer call.
Instead, I'm firmly having my say. I'm establishing boundaries. I'm accepting others Free Will while choosing the level of intimacy I'm willing to offer. I'm accepting that sometimes, people have to help themselves and the best thing we can do is stand in readiness with no expectation, as they make their choices.
“One of the annoying things about believing in free will and individual responsibility is the difficulty of finding somebody to blame your problems on.”– P.J. O'Rourke
The old energy is bent upon conquest, revenge, and control. We all have the Free Will to live this way and many people do. However, the tradeoff is disconnectedness from Source. A dissatisfaction that cannot be quenched with more money or material trappings. A disconnectedness that may attempt to restore itself with chemicals or other adrenalinized actitivies.
The new energies and The Shift honour Free Will, without judgment. We may choose preferences, boundaries and make choices in response. The beauty is that the more we live in acceptance of Free Will, the closer we come to Source and regardless of the winds of change, this connectedness acts as our root.
Years ago, I first heard the concept that to truly Love, we needed to cultivate detachment from outcome. I struggled with this, but now I understand.
Detachment isn't ambivalent or cold. Ruled by Pisces, it's all encompassing, and it sees the universal picture. It connects to all. It accepts the mysterious, and it trusts what it cannot see. It expresses deep emotion creatively, gently, in a way that opens hearts. Musicians, artists, dancers know this, and so do their fans.
For those of you seeking your soulmates, the quality of a long-term relationship is determined by how each person can dismantle the struggle to control your Beloved's Free Will. Your happiness together will be directly proportional to how well you engage this dance.
Allowing someone to change, make mistakes, honour their choices especially when they don't align with ours is difficult. Yet this acceptance of Free Will is what unlocks the true Love and Light that shines from the deepest parts of our souls.
Love and Light isn't a highbeam flashlight scorching the surface of our hearts. That creates squinting and shadows. But rather Love and Light is the gentle glow of who we really are, awakening full potential inside.
“My first act of free will shall be to believe in free will.”– William James
Are you encountering tests to your Free Will right now? Work it through your heart. Keep it about you.
Acceptance isn't agreement. Acceptance isn't martyrdom or being a doormat. Acceptance isn't giving away your power. Remember you have Free Will to choose your limits and personal boundaries.
You can say: No, I withdraw from this. I am moving on. I disagree. I don't believe that. I do believe that. I choose something else. I choose you. This is no longer what I want. This is what I want. I am going to do this. I love you and I won't help you until you decide to help yourself.
I do believe. I respect your choice to not believe.
Sending this out into our universe now... and signing off:
with Free Will.
